Team Florida Trade Mission to Colombia:December 2-5, 2012

This is the last call for Florida Producers!

Team Florida Trade Mission to Colombia

December 2-5, 2012
Bogotá, Colombia

The Gold Key grant application deadline is September 30, 2012.
With only a few spots remaining you don't want to miss this opportunity!

Colombia is Florida’s second largest trading partner, with trade totaling more than $9 billion in 2011. It is also among the top five destinations for Florida products, amounting to nearly $3 billion in exports. The Free Trade Agreement with Colombia, which became effective on May 15, is expected to be a valuable promotional tool for trade between the two nations. By eliminating the need to pay tariffs in order to export Florida goods and products to those expanding economies, Florida companies will now be able to invest their money in creating jobs. More than 90 percent of U.S. exports to Colombia will enter the country duty free or will be eligible for a phase-out of their tariffs annually for the next 10 years.

Recognizing the tremendous potential for expanding Florida-Colombia trade and investment ties, Enterprise Florida, will bring together a high-level delegation of Florida business leaders desiring to market their goods and services in Colombia. This mission is part of a strategy to promote Florida exports worldwide and help pave the way for Florida companies to enter entry or expand their market share in Colombia.

The mission will include networking events designed to connect the companies with top level Colombian corporate and government leaders, and one-to-one business matchmaking to set the stage for the marketing and sales efforts between the Florida and Colombia businesses.

Grants covering 100% of the registration costs are available through an initiative with the U.S. Small Business Administration!

Enterprise Florida is offering trade grants for qualified Florida producers, covering 100% of the registration cost for the Team Florida Trade Mission to Bogotá, Colombia. Please note the grant is only available for Option 1 Gold Key Package and company will be liable for the registration cost in case of cancellation or no show. A separate application process is required for this grant.

Funded in part through a grant award with the U.S. Small Business Administration

Business Opportunities in East Africa for U.S. Businesses

The Republic of Kenya and East Africa Beckons!

Kenya is the leading economy in East Africa and gateway to the East African Community (EAC), which consists of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. The EAC has a combined population of more than 230 million.

Why Export to East Africa? The region's strong growth results in immediate opportunities in energy and other sectors. Less that 20% of East Africa's 230 million residents have access to electricity, but demand is approaching a 10% growth rate in some markets.

The U.S. also is working with the EAC on a new regional integration initiative, which will enhance the U.S.-EAC trade and investment relationship. Kenya qualifies for duty free access to the United States of America (USA) market under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) enacted by the United States in 2000. Also, Mombasa, the main principle seaport of Kenya, has served as a major distribution hub for the lucrative East African market providing connections to landlocked neighboring nations.

The Port of Mombasa and Port Miami have been engaged as Sister Seaports since 2007. Kenya is South Florida’s 95th trade partner with bilateral trade valued at $17 million (2011). Kenya is currently 105th largest goods trading partner with the United States, with $846 million in total goods trade (2011).

New-to-export or new-to-market companies interested in doing business in Kenya can sign up for our forthcoming Webinar or join the Business Development Mission to Nairobi, Kenya:

December 2-5, 2012
Bogota, Colombia

Join Governor Rick Scott and Enterprise Florida on the Team Florida Trade Mission to Colombia! Colombia is the fifth-largest economy in Latin America with a population of approximately 45 million inhabitants. Over the last decade, improvements in security and political stability have fostered economic growth and a secure business climate. With 4% GDP growth in 2010 and an estimated 4.6 % growth in 2011, the Colombian market presents unbounded opportunities for Florida companies.

The October 2011 approval of the Free Trade Agreement with Colombia is expected to be a valuable tool for the significant promotion of trade between the two nations. Over 90 percent of U.S. Exports to Colombia will enter the country duty free or will see their tariffs phase out every year for the following ten years.

Colombia is the United States' fourth largest trading partner and is Florida’s second largest trading partner with over $9 billion in two-way trade in 2011. Colombia is among the top five destinations for Florida-origin products, amounting to nearly $3 billion in trade. The constant growth of the Colombian economy is expected to generate new export opportunities for Florida firms wanting to benefit from a strong open business climate and Florida’s traditionally close cultural and economic ties with Latin America.
